All About Rajasthan Judiciary Exam Eligibility 2024

The examination scheme for recruitment to the cadre of Civil Judge shall consist of :-
(1) Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
(2) Written Main Examination (Subjective Type)
(3) Interview

Rajasthan Judiciary Prelims Syllabus 2024:

The Preliminary Exam of the Rajasthan Judiciary is a screening test with objective-type 100 questions with a maximum of 100 marks up for grabs. However, the RJS prelims exam consists of the following:

  • Law Subjects – 70 % weightage (For the Preliminary Exam, the subjects will be the same as prescribed in the syllabus for Law Paper l and Law Paper ll.
  • Hindi Proficiency  – 15% 
  • English Proficiency  – 15%

Prelims syllabus for Law is the same as prescribed for the Main Law Paper l & Il.

1. Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (CPC):

– Knowledge of various provisions related to the jurisdiction of civil courts, pleadings, trial procedures, execution of decrees, etc.

2. The Constitution of India:
– Comprehensive understanding of the Indian Constitution, including its preamble, fundamental rights, directive principles of state policy, fundamental duties, etc.
– Knowledge of the constitutional provisions related to the judiciary, fundamental rights, separation of powers, etc.

3. Indian Contract Act, 1872:
– Understanding of the principles governing contracts in India.
– Knowledge of various aspects of contracts such as formation, performance, breach, remedies, etc.

4. The Indian Evidence Act, 1872:
– Understanding of the rules of evidence in India.
– Knowledge of various provisions related to relevancy, admissibility, burden of proof, etc.

5. The Limitation Act, 1963:
– Understanding of the law relating to the limitation period for filing suits and appeals.
– Knowledge of various provisions related to computation of limitation, exceptions, etc.

6. The Specific Relief Act, 1963:
– Understanding of the law relating to specific reliefs available in civil matters.
– Knowledge of various provisions related to specific performance, injunctions, declaratory decrees, etc.

7. The Transfer of Property Act, 1882:
– Understanding of the law relating to the transfer of immovable property in India.
– Knowledge of various provisions related to sale, mortgage, lease, gift, etc.

8. Interpretation of Statutes:
– Understanding of the principles and methods used for interpreting statutes.
– Knowledge of various rules of interpretation such as literal rule, golden rule, mischief rule, etc.

9. The Rajasthan Rent Control Act, 2001:
– Understanding of the provisions of the Rajasthan Rent Control Act.
– Knowledge of various aspects related to rent control, tenancy rights, eviction procedures, etc.

10. Order/Judgment Writing:
– Ability to draft orders and judgments effectively.
– Understanding of the format, structure, and language used in judicial orders and judgments.

The eligibility criteria for the Rajasthan Civil Judge Exam 2024 are crucial for aspirants to understand before filling out the application form. Let’s delve into the detailed requirements: 

 Age Limit:

– Lower Age Limit: Applicants must be at least 21 years old as of January 1, 2024.

– Upper Age Limit: The maximum age limit is 40 years as of January 1, 2024. Candidates exceeding this age limit are not eligible to apply.

 Educational Qualification:

– Candidates must possess a Bachelor of Laws (Professional) Degree from a recognized Law University.

– Additionally, candidates must be enrolled or recognized as an Advocate under the provisions of the Advocates Act, 1961.

– If an applicant is in the final semester of LLB in 2024, they are eligible to apply. However, it’s advisable to acquire the necessary educational qualification before the Mains examination and submit proof within seven days of holding the Mains exam.

 Nationality:

– Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply for the Rajasthan Civil Judge Exam 2024. Non-resident Indians (NRIs) or foreign nationals are not eligible.

 Age Relaxation:

– Rajasthan High Court provides age relaxation for candidates belonging to specific categories:

  – Women candidates: 5 years

  – Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC): 5 years

 Character:

– Applicants must possess a good character and should not have any criminal records or pending cases.

– It’s essential to have three-character certificates:

  – One issued by the dean, principal, or academic officer of the last attended institute.

  – Two additional character certificates from responsible persons not related to the applicant.

 Physical Fitness:

– There are no explicit criteria mentioned regarding physical fitness, but candidates should ensure they are in good health to fulfill the duties of a civil judge effectively.
